Proec and HC partnership will bring art, music, workshops and physical activities into the hospital

'A bridge to new connections' aims to promote the well-being of patients and employees in the coming months

The Dean of Extension and Culture (Proec) and the Hospital de Clínicas (HC) of Unicamp have just launched the project HC Extensionando: A bridge to new connections. Through exhibitions, workshops and artistic interventions, music, dance, workshops, physical activities and other actions, the aim is to promote the well-being of patients, employees and the hospital community in the coming months.

“HC is an unexplored stage. We have a lot that we can contribute to bringing a more delicate and human perspective to care. Actions like these generate an environment of decompression, care and attention. We will look for more projects to create a cauldron of multiplicity and intellectual growth within our hospital”, said HC superintendent, Elaine Cristina de Ataíde.

The vice-rector of Extension and Culture at Unicamp, Fernando Coelho, highlighted that Proec has at its side the Unicamp student community, which is made up of more than six thousand potential collaborators, in addition to the content of the units that make up and support Proec in their internal and external actions. “We want to bring the external community into the hospital and create an experience of belonging. We want everyone to get involved head and heart in the activities and for the hospital to have visitable spaces”, revealed Coelho.

One of the stages of the project consists of distributing, throughout the hospital, reproductions of works of art from the Museum of Visual Arts (MAV) from Unicamp. MAV has a collection of around a thousand works that were donated by Unicamp's Institute of Arts (IA). Sylvia Helena Furegatti, professor at IA and director of MAV, visited the hospital to evaluate the places where the works of art could be displayed. “The idea is to work with local artists, especially IA doctoral and post-doctoral students”, highlighted Sylvia.

Ecotoy library

One of the first activities already planned in partnership with the NGO Ecobrinquedoteca is the revitalization of Espaço Brincar, located on the fourth floor of the hospital's pediatrics. The Play Space will be inserted as an extension point in the training of eco-toy enthusiasts, which takes place at the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (Imecc) at Unicamp.

Here how to sign up for the course in partnership with Proec and participate in this extension action that will benefit children admitted to Unicamp's HC.
