The 21st edition of the Unicamp Open Doors Program – UPA 2026 will be this Saturday (22), and the entire University is already prepared to receive the more than 50 registered students, who come from all over the state of São Paulo and from Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul and Bahia. The event, a tradition at Unicamp, will be held from 9 am to 17 pm on the Barão Geraldo campus, in Campinas. Admission is free, and registration is not required for individual, family or group visits. The schedule of faculties, institutes and teaching, research and extension units and the list of cultural activities are available on the UPA website.
“Traditionally, UPA is a university celebration for the community. It's the moment when the university presents itself and welcomes the public interested in studying at Unicamp, in learning about what we develop in teaching, research, outreach, and innovation. This year, it has a special character because it's included in the celebrations of Unicamp's 60th anniversary,” says Fernando Santos Coelho, the University's general coordinator. With the theme “Time for Connections,” the slogan of the institution's anniversary celebrations, UPA invites the community to join students, professors, and staff in the celebration. “We have about 4050 people involved in organizing this year's UPA, including monitors, technical-administrative staff, and faculty. It's a very significant number and commensurate with the size of the event,” he emphasizes.
Passport and reception
Among the new features for this year's UPA are the installation of new permanent hydration points on campus, with refrigerated water fountains, and new support tents for visitors, with cell phone charging points, water distribution, and stickers for the UPA Passport poster (see below). There will be a total of six tents, distributed throughout different points on campus. Another new feature is the preparation of a report calculating the total carbon footprint of UPA 2026. This assessment will be carried out by the Executive Directorate for Sustainability (DEXS) of Unicamp, which will also offer visitors the possibility of calculating their individual carbon footprints.

To make it easier to find your way around campus and make the visit more fun – as well as providing a souvenir of Unicamp's 60th anniversary – visitors will have access to the UPA Passport, an interactive poster with interesting facts and useful information about the University, with spaces to be filled in with themed stickers of Tiba, the event's mascot. There will be six stickers, distributed at different points on campus.
This year's UPA (University Accessibility Program) also has a special focus on welcoming people with disabilities. "Our focus is to offer conditions so that people with disabilities can fully enjoy everything the University offers," points out the general coordinator. To this end, the parking area located behind the Cesar Lattes Central Library (BCCL) will be designated for visitors with disabilities and/or reduced mobility. In this case, the organization advises that vehicles access the campus through Gate 1, in Henfil Square. There, visitors who need it can request the VAMUS service – Accessible Electric Vehicle for Sustainable Urban Mobility. There will be two service points, in the BCCL parking area and in Peace Square. Requests for VAMUS service can be made at any of the support tents spread throughout the campus.
The University will also have a decompression room, located on the first floor of Basic Cycle II, aimed at neurodivergent individuals who have greater sensitivity to hearing and stimuli. Another service that will be available is the support of professionals from the Unicamp Sign Language Translation and Interpretation Center – CeTILS. Requests can be made at the support tents spread throughout the campus.
Below you will find the main information for your visit to UPA 2026:

Boarding and disembarking of buses and vans
There will be two areas for entry, boarding, and disembarking of buses from schools and educational institutions. Some schools will enter through Gate 2 of the campus, on Avenida Dr. Romeu Tórtima. Disembarkation for these students will take place on Avenida Albert Einstein, and the vehicles will be directed to parking spaces located in the Unicamp Technological Park area. Another group of schools should access the campus through Gate 6, on Avenida Guilherme de Almeida. In this case, disembarkation for students will take place on Rua Roxo Moreira, Rua Seis de Agosto, and Rua Cândido Portinari. Parking spaces for these vehicles will be concentrated at PUC Campinas. Institutions will be informed by email about which entrance they should use.
At the end of the event, student pick-up and vehicle departure should occur at the same locations as drop-off. The responsibility for communicating with drivers to indicate the location of student groups for pick-up and drop-off from the campus will lie with the teachers responsible for the schools during the visit. The campus streets will be signposted, and our monitors will be present to guide drivers. The UPA 2026 traffic plan has the support of the Campinas Municipal Development Company (Emdec). The entire campus will be marked with directional signs and will have monitors to guide drivers.

Circulation and parking of individual vehicles
All streets leading to Praça do Ciclo Básico will be closed on the day of the event. The area will be exclusively for pedestrian traffic. The official UPA parking lots are reserved for buses and vans from schools and educational institutions registered for the event.
For individual visitors or groups/families, we recommend using parking spaces on roads open to traffic and in designated parking areas (the BCCL parking area will be reserved for people with disabilities). We advise caution to avoid disrupting local traffic and suggest arriving early, as the flow of vehicles and people is heavier after 8:30 am.

Food
There will be three food courts with diverse options and affordable prices to cater to visitors. They will be located in the Basic Cycle Plaza, the Peace Plaza, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences. In addition, there are snack bars located in the faculties and institutes on campus. We also have vending machines , offering snacks and drinks, installed at 60 points throughout the campus.

Wi-Fi and UPA app
To facilitate access to digital resources, free Wi-Fi will be available throughout the campus. Visitors can connect to the “UPA” network for free. The event organizers encourage all visitors to prioritize browsing via the Wi-Fi network provided on campus.
Another resource to optimize the experience on the Unicamp campus is access to the “UPA” application, available for download on the Play Store for Android users and on the App Store for iOS users. With it, it is possible to consult the complete schedule of activities, download location maps and access a virtual map with georeferencing features, where it is possible to plot routes to visit the desired locations.

Support space for visiting teachers
Teachers from schools registered for the event can make use of our Teachers' Room, a space prepared for rest and other services. It will be located in the classrooms on the first floor of Basic Cycle II (PB), on Rua Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, opposite the University Restaurant.

Medical services and useful phone numbers
The Community Health Center (Cecom) will be open to treat minor health issues. For more serious cases, ambulances from VIDAS – Internal Health Care Vehicle – will be available for possible referral to the Unicamp Clinical Hospital (HC). The UPA also has the support of Unimed Campinas.
