O Scientific and Technological Park from Unicamp, managed by the Innovation Agency Innovates Unicamp[University Name] is building the Startup Village, a new complex with the capacity to house more than 60 innovative companies and startups. With the Startup Village, we will expand our innovation environment and further enhance connections and opportunities for companies and startups seeking proximity to the University and other strategic innovation agents,” says Renato Lopes, executive director of Inova Unicamp.
The new project is being made possible by Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep) It was designed to further strengthen the University's innovation and entrepreneurship environment, directly contributing to fostering the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem through science and technology-based economic development.
The Startup Village will feature private offices, areas prepared for laboratory activities, meeting rooms, coworking spaces, an auditorium, a communal café, and environments designed to encourage interaction between entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, and other actors in the innovation ecosystem.
"The expectation is that the new space will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the companies located there, expanding their growth potential in regional, national and international scenarios, further increasing the impact of Unicamp's actions," adds Lopes.
Environment and sustainability
The architectural design of the Startup Village was developed to integrate the building into the existing landscape. The project preserves the vegetation of the site and prioritizes solutions that favor natural lighting and cross-ventilation, reducing the need for artificial climate control in open and communal areas.
Among the building's distinguishing features are the use of prefabricated structures and industrialized construction systems, which reduce waste generation during construction and allow for greater flexibility in future adaptations of the spaces. The design also prioritizes durable, low-maintenance materials, aligning operational efficiency and sustainability.
