The rector of Unicamp, Paulo Cesar Montagner, received, on Friday (12), representatives of the Federal Revenue Service of the State of São Paulo to discuss possibilities of cooperation between the institutions. The topics discussed included the collaboration between the Innovation Laboratory of the Federal Revenue Service and the Institute of Computing (IC) of the University, the participation of technological initiation scholarship holders in projects of interest to the agency, and the offer of extension and postgraduate courses for Revenue Service employees.
Among the participants of the meeting were the deputy superintendent of the Federal Revenue Service in São Paulo, Vicente Batista Júnior; the head of the Innovation Laboratory of the São Paulo Federal Revenue Service, Marcelo Pereira Costa; the deputy delegate of the Federal Revenue Service Customs at Viracopos International Airport, Igor Alan Pezzini de Nadai; and the pro-rector of Graduate Studies at Unicamp, Cláudia Morelli.
According to the rector, the meeting allowed for the identification of several opportunities for collaboration between the parties. “We realized that the Revenue Service has a great deal of knowledge, and we also have much to contribute. There is an important complementarity between the institutions, which can result in concrete actions to strengthen the Brazilian public service,” he stated.
Montagner also highlighted that the discussions originated from a previous partnership, when the Federal Revenue Service allocated a seized truck to the Piracicaba Faculty of Dentistry (FOP) to be transformed into a mobile dental clinic. This initiative paved the way for the exploration of new joint projects.
The Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies, Cláudia Morelli, emphasized that the cooperation could involve different areas of the University. “It’s not just about technology. In this first meeting, we already identified several areas of action that include training people, scientific research, and knowledge generation. It’s a two-way partnership, where everyone wins, especially society,” she highlighted.
Solutions
For Vicente Batista Júnior, the partnership with Unicamp represents an opportunity to seek innovative solutions to the challenges faced by Public Administration. “The Federal Revenue Service needs this partnership with academia to offer more and better services. The idea is that problems faced by the agency can be studied by students and researchers from the University, generating benefits for the entire population,” he said.
According to Marcelo Pereira Costa, head of the Revenue Service's Innovation Laboratory, the partnership strengthens the development capacity of both sides. "The collaboration between such important public institutions allows us to combine academic knowledge and practical experience to address public problems and train professionals prepared for the challenges of the future," he commented.
At the end of the meeting, representatives from both institutions made it clear that they were interested in moving quickly towards formalizing agreements and joint projects.
