The University Rector regrets the occupation of the General Administration Directorate (DGA) building that occurred last night, emphasizing that protest actions should not obstruct the right to come and go nor prevent employees from freely accessing their professional activities.
The Rector's Office reiterates that it maintains an open, permanent, and transparent channel of dialogue with the different segments of the university community, which includes students, faculty, and technical-administrative staff. Active listening and collective negotiation are the only legitimate paths to building institutional solutions. Forceful actions go against the democratic principles, mutual respect, and the pursuit of understanding that should guide academic life.
The disruption of activities at the DGA (General Administration Department) hinders the progress of essential services, such as the supply of healthcare, the release of salaries, scholarships and student aid, the processing of payments, purchases and regulatory contracts, the operation of university restaurants and the import of supplies for scientific research. This type of action penalizes the entire community and compromises the functioning of the University itself.
Finally, the University Rector reaffirms its full willingness to continue the discussions and negotiations. However, it emphasizes that progress in these talks presupposes the preservation of normal activities and the guarantee of the integrity of public spaces.
