Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency) rules out risk to public health and the general population.

Material taken from a laboratory at the Institute of Biology was analyzed by the Agency.

The Rectorate of Unicamp, in light of recent news regarding the removal of samples from the Virology and Applied Biotechnology Laboratory of the Institute of Biology (IB), wishes to clarify that the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has officially confirmed, through a statement, that the material in question does not pose a risk to public health or the general population.

The University reiterates its commitment to responsible transparency and informs that it remains fully cooperating with the Federal Police (PF) and conducting its own internal investigation with the necessary technical rigor.

In accordance with due process, the institution will maintain confidentiality regarding technical details and the identities of those involved, aiming to preserve the integrity of individuals and the effectiveness of the investigations.

The University rejects any attempt at sensationalist exploitation of the case and informs that it will only issue further statements within the context of the ongoing official investigations.

Unicamp reaffirms its commitment to its biosafety protocols and remains focused on its academic and scientific mission.
