Urbanization changes the eating habits of capuchin monkeys.

Between 1988 and 1991, a study conducted by students from the Institute of Biology (IB) at Unicamp investigated the eating habits of primates inhabiting the Santa Genebra Forest. At the time, researchers verified the ingestion of 71 plant species, four of which were exotic. About 30 years later, new research has re-analyzed the behavior of these primates through their diet. In addition to characterizing the eating habits of the black-tufted capuchin monkeys that now live in the area, the study provides important evidence regarding the changes that have occurred in the region and how much the expansion of urban areas can impact local biodiversity.
