A dream for millions, income for the few.

For millions of Brazilians, YouTube has become a consolidated form of work and a promise of income. The answer lies in the data: among 895 channels with more than 50 subscribers in 2018, just over half remained active in 2026. Considering the total of these channels, the estimated income of 72% of them was less than a minimum wage (R$ 1.621) per month. Researcher Gabriel Viana Braz investigates the leading role of Brazilians in this sector in his master's thesis, defended at the Institute of Economics (IE) of Unicamp, under the guidance of Professor José Dari Krein of Cesit (Center for Trade Union and Labor Economics Studies).
