To develop multidisciplinary activities in the areas of food and nutrition.

The activities of research and extension consider socio-economic, statistical, nutritional and technological aspects of the food question.

It is a collaborator of the Conselho Nacional de Segurança Alimentar - CONSEA (National Council of Food Safety) and of the Ministry of Health to the project Inquérito de Consumo Alimentar (Inquiry of Food Consumption).
